How to Access the Quick Access Section on Le 2?

The usual place for the quick access is in the notification drawer for Android, but for Le 2 running on EUI, it is placed differently. Tap on the multi-tasking capacitive key, which gives you access to running apps, and the Quick Access shows up on top. EUI has managed to merge the command centre beautifully with multitasking, and IMO it is definitely useful.

If you swipe the list of quick action to the left, till the end you get an option “Sort”. This allows you to customise the quick access as per your need.

How to Turn on Adaptive Brightness on Le 2?

Le 2’s Adaptive Brightness is turned off by default. You can turn it on from going to Settings > Display > Turn on Adaptive Brightness. You can also enable it from the Quick Access settings. It is available at the extreme left.

It’s no surprise that it is turned off by default as it doesn’t work well when in broad daylight. The amount of expected brightness is low, and hence you will end up manually pushing up the brightness bar.

How to make the Le 2 display look Vivid?

EUI in LeEco Le 2 offers color profile for phones. This is a very basic feature, but still few phones offer it. If you are kind of person who would like to see colors on our phone being more vibrant and appealing, you can choose the Vivid mode. Go to Settings > Display > Color Mode. Here you can choose between Vivid, Natural, Soft and default.

How to Increase the Font Size on Le 2?

If you prefer a little bigger fonts than usual, EUI on Le 2 offers three basic options to change the font size. This can be done in two different ways. The first is by increasing the font size by going to Settings > Display > Font Size > Choose between Small, Normal and Large. If this doesn’t help, use the second option, which is Scale View.

This option adjusts the size and distribution of content displayed on screen. It’s like Zoom, but it fits in the display very well. You can select different display modes by going to Settings > Display >Scale View.

How to Enable Dolby Atmos on Le 2?

LeEco Le 2 supports Dolby Atoms (which isn’t marketed for some reason) and sadly, this is also disabled by default. You an however manually turn this on by going to Settings > Sound & Vibration and scrolling till the end.

There is another option labelled as Digital Earphone. This works when you insert the USB Type C earphone that comes with the phone. This option improves the audio experience, but also consumes a lot of battery. So in case you are running low, and still want to listen to music, you an try turning this off.

Enable Vibrate on Call Answering/Ending 

This is yet another option which is turned off by default. Vibrations when a call is received, and during end calls provide important feedback, specially these days with so many call drops. In Le 2, you can enable this by opening settings and then tap on the App settings  > Call settings. Then scroll down till bottom to enable it.

How to Mark Notifications from some of the apps as important?

If you wish some app notifications to be important, and stay on top, and skip some of them, Android 6.0 allows you to customize it. Go to  Settings >Notification Management > Select Important Notice. You can also turn on Priority Notifications, Mark them as important, and also control options for Display banner, Locked Screen and Icon tags.

How to take selfies using fingerprint scanner on Le 2?

Le 2 doesn’t offer too many features that can be used with Fingerprint Sensor (like on Honor/EMUI), but still offers an option that can be useful when taking selfies. All you need to do is tap on fingerprint sensor when taking selfie, and it clicks. However make sure to tap softly else your selfie might shake.

Go to Settings > Fingerprint and password > Enable Tap to Capture Photo.

Align Wakeup

In Android, apps hold a wakelock when they have to do anything. Dropbox uploading pictures, Evernote syncing in the background to update the notes, and Todoist updating itself in the background are few examples. It is important because if the phone sleeps, the process will be terminated, and hence the phone wakes up to get this done.

During night, wake locks are not needed as you will be obviously sleeping. All this can be done when your phone’s display is on and you are using the phone as well which is a smarter way of doing it and saves battery life.

So when you enable align wakeup, it  essentially reduces wakelocks from apps when phone is idle. Google has a similar feature in Marshmallow called Doze. Align Wakeup is based on that. It seems that it is exactly the same or LeEco must have tweaked it further.

To enable this feature, go to Settings > Battery > Align Wakeup > Enable both the options. It says that it effectively reduce times of phone wakeups, effectively saving battery. The second option that comes along with this is Clock Alignment night mode. It does the same thing except that it is for clock which keeps the display on all night.

How to Enable Battery percentage in Status Bar?

Go to Settings > Battery > Turn on  “Status bar – battery percentage”. This is a much better way to get an idea of how much battery is left compared to the plain progress bar style display.

How to Improve Battery life on Le 2 with Power Saving Management

Phone Manager App is an ultimate tool EUI packs in and brings lot of optimization tools together. While I have already pointed out many of them above, here are a few more you should use:

·         Enable Ultra Standby During Sleep.  This restricts all background activity when the phone is under lock mode. You can use it during night when you use your phone the least.

·         Lock Screen Clean up : Cleans up the apps that are still running during sleep mode.

·         App Protection : If you wish some of the apps to never run in the background, you can select to disable them.

·         App battery Usage Alert : If any of the apps are running in background, and consuming lot of battery, the system sends out warning.

How to Disable Apps on EUI?

Phone manager app includes a straight forward tool which makes it much easy to disable apps. Under App warehouse, you an select which apps you don’t want to use, and disable it.  We recommend you to use it for apps which you use the least, or even use it to hide apps.

How to change theme, and download new ones?

EUI comes with three default themes which is well done to satisfy most of the consumer base. If you still wish to try out more themes, the skin offers option to download themes directly on your phone, and apply it with almost zero effort.

Go to Settings > Wallpaper and Themes. Here you can choose to download new themes (preview is available), and apply it with one single tap.  It is remarkable how quickly it applies the theme compared to some other phones.

LeEco Le 2 vs Moto G4 Plus Comparison

     The US based mobile company has started doing really awesome over the past 2 years. On the other hand, the most trending Chinese mobile company aka LeTv is doing good in terms of budget mobile. Although, Motorola has previously launched some high end Android mobiles but this time, they have launched two affordable Android mobiles called Motorola Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. Although, there is a difference between prices of both mobiles but still they are comparable as some of the features are almost same. Therefore, if Rs. 2000 or 3000 doesn’t matter for you, you can certainly check out this comparison.

For your information, you should know that this is a specification comparison, where you can mainly find the specifications, configurations and features of both mobiles.

Body and Design

Although, dimensions are almost same but you can find a lot of differences between overall looks. The LeEco Le 2 is built with metal but you can find plastic body in Moto G4 Plus. Moto G4 Plus is hardy but not as much as Le 2. Another notable thing is fingerprint sensor. You can find fingerprint sensor is both of them but the position of the sensor is different. In Le 2, you can find the fingerprint sensor on the back panel whereas Moto G4 Plus has the sensor on the front where it actually should be. However, if it doesn’t matter, you can choose anyone at this point.

Display

The display of Le 2 is much different from the competitor. Moto G4 Plus has a brighter display than Le 2. However, Le 2’s display is good for your eye and being not so bright, you should not get any problem while using it in sunlight. Both of them have 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. But, the main difference is protection as Moto G4 Plus has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 but Le 2 doesn’t have anything like that. Talking about the interface, you will get stock Android on Moto G4 Plus but Le 2 has EUI 5.6 over stock Android. Therefore, you will get a different feel while using that particular mobile.

Hardware/Performance

Performance does matter always. You will get Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 chipset along with Quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 processor. On the other hand, Moto G4 Plus contains Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 chipset along with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor. Obviously, Le 2 will perform quite better than Moto G4 Plus while opening multiple apps or playing high end games. At the same time, you will get Adreno 510 GPU in Le 2 and Moto G4 Plus features Adreno 405.

Talking about the RAM and storage, you will get 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage in Le 2. Unfortunately, there is no microSD card slot. Moto G4 Plus comes with 2GB RAM with 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. Considering the variant, you can find same RAM and internal storage in both of the mobiles. But, Le 2 will provide only 1.7GB RAM out of 3GB.

Camera

If you are a mobile photographer or you just capture random photos, you should know about camera. However, there is no major difference in both of the mobiles as they come with 16MP rear camera along with dual LED flash and some regular features. Le 2 has a great low light camera when Moto G4 Plus has a great focus capability. Therefore, you cannot find a huge difference in these mobiles. But, you can find record 2160p video using Le 2 but Moto G4 Plus cannot do so. Talking about the front facing camera, you will get 8MP in Le 2 but 5MP camera is included in Moto G4 Plus.

Battery

Both of them have turbo charging but Moto G4 Plus performs much better. Both of them sport Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery but Moto G4 Plus provides better battery backup.

Considering all the things, this is confirmed that none of them is much more better than other one. Some of the features of Moto G4 Plus are better and some of the features are better for Le 2.

How to Root LeEco Le 2 and Install TWRP: Step by Step, Detailed Guide

           Le 2 is a great device with disruptive pricing. But do you know how you can make it even better? Well, rooting it would be the way. This way you will be able to gain system access on the phone and do a whole lot of customization and even install other ROMs like MIUI when they are available. However, the only catch is that rooting Le 2 is not as easy as rooting Le 1s with one click root. Things are a bit complicated, but if you follow this guide step by step, I am sure you will have no issues.

Note: I have tested these steps with the Indian retail unit running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 652, EUI 5.6 and Android M. If you have any doubts, please clarify them before proceeding.

The Prerequisites

There are a few things you needed to take care of and be aware of, prior to starting the process. So please go through them and make sure everything is in place before starting to root the Le 2.

1. All the data will be wiped from the Le 2 and that not only does that include the user settings, but also internal storage. So make sure you have backed up everything from your phone and stored it on your computer or cloud storage to restore later. You can also check out the Helium Backup app to back up apps along with their data without root access.

2. Disable any screen lock (PIN or Pattern) from your device. Please note that this step is very important and you must not ignore it.

3. Having done that, enable the Developer options on the phone and enable USB debugging so that you can interact with the device using the ADB command line. You will also have to enable OEM Unlocking to allow the boot loader to be unlocked using ADB.

4. Download ADB and Fastboot drivers  from this XDA page and install them on your computer. There is an easy guide and installation is a matter of simple yes or no choices, and once it’s installed, you will get system wide ADB and Fastboot.

5. Download and extract the file Le 2 Rooting and save it on a folder in desktop. Let’s name the folder ‘Le2 rooting’ so that it’s easier for me to reference it later in the article.

So those were the necessary prerequisites before you proceed with rooting. Also, just want to make things clear that after this, you are on your own. I have documented the steps that worked for me and will definitely work for you too if you follow it step-by-step. Still, if anything happens to your phone to as small as alarm not going on in the morning, you cannot blame us.

Part 1: Unlocking Bootloader and Installing Custom Recovery

Step 1: Plug in your Le 2 to your Windows computer and then fire up the command prompt from the Le2 Rooting folder by righ-clicking on the folder and holding the Shiftkey. At the same time, you might get an RSA security warning on your Android when you connect it to the computer with USB debugging. Allow all access here so that you are able to execute ADB commands from the command prompt.

Step 2: In the command prompt, type in the following commands to check if the ADB is able to communicate with the device and then to reboot the phone in Bootloader mode.

adb devices

adb reboot bootloader

You will see a similar result in your command prompt too.

Step 3: Having done that, it’s time to unlock the Bootloader. Execute the following commands one after another. Please note that this step will erase everything on your device.

fastboot oem unlock

fastboot oem unlock-go

Step 4: Now to install the custom recovery, type and execute the following command and hit enter.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Note: We will have to also delete user data to bypass the device encryption. To do that, execute the command:

 fastboot format userdata

Having done all that, please do not reboot the phone or you will have to  clear the user data once more. Instead, press and hold the Power+Volume Up button to open up TWRP recovery.

Part 2: Rooting the Le 2

Step 1: When the TWRP recovery loads up, it’s highly likely that it loads in the Chinese language. So to change it to English, tap on the buttons shown in the screenshots that follow, choose English and save the settings.

  

Step 2: Once you understand the language, navigate back to the home screen and tap on Mount to mount the internal storage. On your computer, copy the super user file to internal memory that you extracted to the Le2 Root folder.

  

Step 3: Take a Nandroid backup of the stock ROM and make a backup of it on your computer so that you have a unmodified ROM if you ever need it.

Step 4: Now unplug the phone from the computer and select Install ZIP in TWRP. Select the SuperSU Zip file and wait for the process to complete.

Now it’s time to reboot your phone and it might take some time for the first boot. You will have to configure everything again and restore the backup to get going. You will see the SU icon and you can install root checker to be sure.
