3G Data Plans Comparison 2015: Idea Vs Vodafone Vs Airtel vs Reliance Vs Tata Docomo Vs Aircel
With the demand of 3G plans from the smartphone users, the
telecom operators give exciting discount offers for many. If you have already
read our 2012, 2013 and 2014 comparison plans of 3G packs, you
would be surprised to know the telecom operator offering the cheapest offer in
2015.

1GB 3G Plan Comparison
If
you are really excited to know the best 3G data plan for this year, you can have
a look at the comparison table at the end of the post.
Note: We have compared standard plans and not taken into consideration
special data plans as all telecom operators charge them differently. Also, we
have taken into consideration Pre-paid plans only as over 95% of Indians use
those connections.
At the end of the post, we
have also shown a table comparing the most popular 1GB 3G data plan for each
provider.
Idea
3G Plans:
The
3G packs haven’t changed much as compared to the last year. There is a difference
of just 2 or 3 rupees in the smaller 3G packs. Here is the list of 3G packs if
you are planning to use the internet just for few days or a week.
And if you are looking forward to use the Idea internet for
more than a week or even for 3 months, you must have a glimpse at the
below-given table. 1GB 3G
pack remains the same as compared to the last year which is 249/-
Check it more about the unlimited packs and other 3G offers right here!
Vodafone
3G Plans:
Vodafone 3G plan of 1GB is
just 2 rupees costlier than the Idea. The cost for 1GB 3G plan for Vodafone is 251. There is no major change seen in this
year’s Vodafone 3G plans.
One-day
3G plan rate was increased from 14 to 26 and the data was reduced from 50MB to
just 25MB. This was a real hike by Vodafone under the category of daily plans.
The 5GB 3G pack costs you 1252 which is valid for 56 days.
If you want to know more about the Vodafone 3G and 2G packs, you
can check them here!
Airtel
3G Data Plans
Airtel
is one of the trusted networks and used by many people. And the reason is the
network spread all over the country. All the telecom operators mostly have changed the validity to 28 days, but
Airtel didn’t change it. The validity for the 3G packs is still
30 days as similar to the last year.
The price for 1GB 3G pack
is 249 which is equal to Idea 1GB 3G pack.
Reliance 3G Data Packs:
Reliance
is slowly falling down in terms of number of users in most of the states. The
Indian telecom operator offers various data packs at cheap rates to give users
more data at cheap prices. However, recently they have introduced CDMA based
Pro 3 EVDO Rev b plans that offer much better internet speeds and are available
at extremely low rates. Have a look at this chart.
However, please note, these Reliance plans are
CDMA based and not GSM, so it cannot be compared to other GSM plans that we
have listed down.
For
GSM, their rates vastly differ from state to state, but on an average their 3G
plans cost around Rs. 150 for 1GB for 30days (you can check out the data plans
from Reliance from 2014 below)
Tata
Docomo 3G Data Packs:
Tata
Docomo has slowly increased the user base by its cheap offers. Especially, in
Gujarat, the offers are very cheap for 3G packs, somewhere around Rs. 150 for
1GB. The rates might vary in different states. But here is the screenshot which
will give you a clear idea about the 3G data packs of Tata Docomo.
In fact if any thing Tata Docomo 3G Data Pack rates have only
gone up compared to last year.
BSNL
3G Data Packs:
It
seems like the BSNL is trying to give the best out of the 3G packs for its
customers all over the country. The telecom operator gives 1GB data pack at 3 different prices with respect to the
change in validity days. Have a look at the data packs offered
by the company.
Aircel 3G Data Packs:
Aircel,
which is mostly used by the people in South India, has some exciting offers for
its regular customers. Right from its 3 day plan which gives 100MB of data at
just 17 and 90 days plan which gives 4GB of 3G data at 699, each and every data
pack gives you something extra when you recharge your prepaid number.
MTNL 3G Data Packs:
As
there aren’t many using MTNL in India, the rates are always going to be low to
attract more customers. MTNL with charges of just 175/- for 1GB data pack which
is most probably cheapest of all the telecom operators. Here is the full list
of various offers from MTNL:
1GB 3G Plan Comparison
Your
search for the best 3G data pack ends here. We have analysed various rates of the
telecom operators all over the India to make sure that you get the cheapest of
all. Here is the comparison for 1GB 3G data pack.
From the above image, it is quite clear that Aircel, BSNL and MTNL
provides the cheapest 3G data pack for 1GB. But
their network and infrastructure may not be at par with Airtel, Idea and
Vodafone and their 3G speeds are generally lower and that’s the reason why they
offer such cheap offers.
LG Brings an New Innovative LED TVs that Double up as a Mosquito Repellant
Televisions are getting smarter, but are they
getting more useful? Probably not. There is not much innovation these days as
technology reaches stagnation. However, LG seems to have launched a television
that does more than what a smart TV would do.
The
South Korean multinational has launched 32-inch and 42-inch smart televisions
that act as a mosquito repellant.Called ‘Mosquito Away’ technology, the ultrasonic waves drive away the
mosquitoes without causing any harm to the residents of the house.
The
smaller model is priced at Rs. 26,900, while the larger one has been priced at
Rs. 47,500. The prices seem to be very LG-like, slightly on the higher side but
there is market for such technology as well.
“The LG Mosquito Away TV, developed as per the Indian insights
by consumers, is equipped with an Ultra Sonic device which once activated,
uses the sound wave technology and makes mosquitoes fly away without emitting any harmful
radiations,” the company said in a statement.
This
comes at a time monsoon is in full swing in India and mosquitoes have started
pestering the denizens of large and small cities. LG claims no harmful
chemicals are used, it is odour free and the waves emitted are not hazardous to
the TV viewers, unlike traditional mosquito repellants.
The
best part about the television is that, it does not need to be turned on to
have the mosquito repelling technology working, so at night also the technology
will keep working while you sleep well.
Specifications
of the TV –
- 32-inch and 42-inch IPS slim LED
displays
- 20W Powerful sound from Dolby
Digital
- Built-in LG games, regional language
options
- Lightening protection, summer heat
protection, humidity and dust protection
- Bollywood mode and cricket mode for
giving you the best video and audio experience
- Smart energy saving, USB-ready
The
television is not a bad choice for purchasing a decent 32-inch LED television
right now, considering it acts as a mosquito repellant that does not harm you
or your surroundings like conventional repellents.
The television is available on popular online as well as
offline stores, so go grab it before the monsoons get over and mosquito
diseases get to you.

New iPhone 7 Leaked Image Reveals Redesigned Antenna Lines and Bigger Camera Bump
iPhone 7 has been
bouncing around the internet for quite a while now with constant leaks and
renders. We have tried to keep away from these random leaks, however, today we
might have our best look of Apple’s seventh generation flagship. New leaked
image from a decently reliable source reveals the upcoming smartphone’s back
casing out in the real world, although, the integrity of the image does raise
some questions as there’s no “iPhone” branding pointing at an early prototype or
a fake.
Coming to the main highlight
here, the leaked image if believed to be true, provides a backbone to a couple
of recent rumors. The first one being that Apple has acknowledged that
customers loathe those antenna lines and as a result, the iPhone 7 as shown in
the picture comes with a much subtle design language with faded grey top and
bottom edges for better reception. Next big change it showcases is a beefier
camera arrangement which also apparently brings a larger protruding bump. To be
frank, the iPhone 7 seen here looks a lot like the latest generation iPod and
in my opinion, most customers are going to find that hideous. It would be
though exciting to see how Apple improves upon their camera technology with
this step forward. Additionally, the “Plus” variant this year will be
reportedly sporting a Dual-lens setup with most probably two 12MP shooters
hinting at a considerably wider and inconvenient bump. That being said, these
leaks are still extremely early and can’t be trusted at all.
Fortunately,
there’s still no evidence of the headphone jack’s departure or whether the next
iPhone will be waterproof. We do, however, know that there won’t be a 16GB
variant. The leaked design is definitely going to disappoint potential users
who were looking for a design overhaul. Furthermore, there have been rumors
that the Cupertino giant will be replacing the physical home button with a
capacitive one to fabricate a much coherent look. Apple will be officially
unveiling the iPhone 7 series later this year in September.
How to Get Pokémon GO on Android and Even if it’s Not Available in Your Country
I recently heard the awesome news from my
friends that after 20 years of waiting,Pokémon
GO game is now available to play! And from the initial reviews, it felt like
a game which was worth the 20 years of wait. However, when I opened the Play
Store page for Pokemon GO, the INSTALL button
was missing and the dreaded message Is
Not Available in Your Country Yet showed up.
Well, this is not the first time a publisher has restricted an app to just a few countries, but this time, it was personal. Nothing could keep me from waiting to try my hands on the love of my childhood, the show which was the reason I came running home after school. So if you aren’t in the mood to wait for the official release of Pokémon GO in your country, here’s how you can get it.

For Android Users
Things are pretty easy and
straightforward for Android users as always.
Sideloading the App
As Pokémon GO does not have any
server-side authentication to check the country from where you are playing,
this is the easiest method to get the game on your Android. Since malware
infection is a concern while sideloading, you can download the app APK file
from APK Mirror and then install it on your
Android.
This way you will get instant access to Pokémon
GO, however, you will have to manually check for updates of the game and
then install the updated version manually. If you don’t want do that, you will
have to install it from Play Store directly using the VPN trick we will discuss
next.
Downloading from
Play Store
Step 1: Download a VPN app on your phone. Since we
only need a VPN connection to download Pokémon GO from the Play Store and
not while playing the game, Tunnel Bear VPN with
a free account will be safe and reliable option to go with. You will get
500 MB of free VPN usage which is more than enough for the task. After you have
installed the app, launch and connect the VPN to a US server.
Step 2: Having done
that, turn off the GPS on your phone and
look for Google Play Store in Settings
–> Downloaded Apps.
Step 3: Tap on it and then select the option Clear data and Clear
cache. Repeat the same with Google Play Services. This will clear
all the previous data on your phone’s Play Store locally and will not affect
anything on the server.
Step 4: Ensuring you are still connected to the VPN
through Tunnel Bear, launch the Play Store, and this time it will connect from
the US. You can now search for Pokémon GO and download the game
Conclusion
So that was how you can download
Pokémon GO and start playing it. I have already started my journey to become
the best Pokémon Master and will share a few tips about the game shortly. So
stay tuned for our next update on the phenomenon that is Pokémon GO.
Indians Have Saved Whopping 36,000 TB of Data With Opera Mini in 1 Year, Company Claims!
If you didn’t know it already, Google Chrome for Android sucks a lot of your data. So if you’re using it as your default browser, you should probably switch to something else and save those precious MBs.
Opera Browser, on the other hand, has a thing
for data saving. With every new release, the company claims to cut the data
consumption and increase data savings. The app also shows you the amount of
data you have saved, so that you continue to give it priority over other
browsers.
According
to a report released by the company ‘State of the Mobile Web’, Opera Mini has
saved about 36,000 Terabytes of data in one year, which is about 98TB of data everyday.
On an average, an internet
user has saved 100MB
of data everyday on Opera Mini.
Opera
India also claims that the total savings costs come to about Rs. 690 Crores,
where 1GB has been equated to Rs. 137. The browser has the ability to compress
webpages by upto 90%, thereby reducing the need to access more data.
Bruce
Lawson, Deputy CTO at Opera, said, “To stay ahead of our consumers’
ever-evolving needs, we keep updating Opera Mini to help them browse faster and
more efficiently. The latest version of Opera Mini comes with new updates such
as language support, ad blocker integration and video boost.”
What
does it mean for Opera users?
Opera
users in India have literally saved upto 90% of their internet costs on the
browser. The compression technology is far superior as compared to other
similar browsers, and at the same time does not reduce the user interface.
A
lot of users in India still continue to use mobile websites instead of apps,
and these websites account for majority of the data. Opera’s data saving
settings along with in-app tweaks allow users to check their data usage and use
their services accordingly.
Google
Chrome aims to deliver a high-end user experience, at the cost of high data
usage. Opera Mini browser does not compromise on any such experience and
delivers the best out there. India is one country that lacks good internet
facilities and data saving is the need of the hour.

Reliance Jio Commercial Launch in August. Will Offer Free Voice Calls with 4G Data
After much delay due to one reason or the other, Reliance Jio’s
commercial launch of its high-speed 4G services is upon us. Jio has been called
as the world’s
biggest startup with an
investment of Rs. 1,50,000 crore.
It
is being rumoured that the commercial launch of Jio would take the incumbent
telecom operators by storm. Please note that Jio already has over 7 lakh subscribers making it the 6th largest
telecom operator in
India, and also has more
towers than BSNL well
before its public launch.
Earlier
Jio connection was given only to the friends and family members of Jio’s
employees via an invite
system, but as soon as the network opened up to early testers for a beta
launch, it achieved this feat.
Jio’s
subscribers on an average used 18.5 GB per month which is much more than the
industry average of 0.72 GB per user per month. Jio has been promoting its
network strength openly by offering free WiFi
(Jionet) during IPL T20 cricket
matches.
Reliance
Jio is also promoting its own smartphone brand- LYF massively and has also
introduced price
drops in various LYF
phones. Please note that Reliance Jio is not just another 4G network. It will
offer VoLTE services as well for offeringhigh
quality voice over its data network.
Reliance
Jio Commercial Launch Is Finally Here
It
was earlier believed that Jio’s commercial launch would happen in the latter
half of 2016 hinting towards a December launch. Then we reported that Jio might
launch its 4G services as early as September
2016.
However,
according to a report on ET,
Jio’s commercial launch will happen in next month, i.e. August
2016. The report also mentions that Jio 4G
would offer only one tariff plan named ‘Freedom’ to all its subscribers. The plan name
hints towards the launch on Indian Independence Day on August 15th. ‘Freedom’ will offer bundled data and voice at
least 25% cheaper than the
top telecom operators.
Jio
Plans Free Voice Calls & Cheaper Data Packs
Jio
is planning to offer free voice calls to all its subscribers who buy data packs. It is also
planning to offer 1 GB data @ Rs. 80.
Major
telecom operators in India still draw about 80% of their revenue from voice
calls, and if Jio offers free voice calling then it will hit the major telcos
(including Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, and BSNL) very hard.
Leading
telecom operators are already worried about
Jio’s commercial launch as it would eat into their profits. HSBC expects Jio to
have a market
share of over 15% by the next
4 years. It is also expected the data tariffs will reduce significantly in
the next few months thanks to Jio’s commercial launch.
We
are very excited about Jio’s commercial launch in India. You should be too. In
case, you are out in the market looking forward to buying a new smartphone then
you must invest in a 4G VoLTE-enabled smartphone to enjoy HD voice calling on Jio 4G.

Pokemon Go; Some Shocking Usage Statistics
If
you keep yourself up-to-date with the latest happenings in the tech arena, you
must have heard of Pokemon Go. Once can’t remember the last time when a mobile
game was well received like this.
Currently, the app is not available all over the world. You can
download it officially only if you are from US, Australia, and New
Zealand. But the limited availability couldn’t extinguish the burning desire of
avid gamers all over the world. They found a third-party source and started
feeling the brand-new Pokemon game.
You might have read reviews and gameplay details elsewhere. But
today, I am focusing more on its usage statistics.
But before we do, let me give you a small overview of the game.
Pokemon Go; What is it actually?
In
short, Pokemon Go is a location based augmented reality game available for both
Android and iOS, in which you have to hunt virtual Pokemons appearing in
the real world. Owing to the usage of camera and GPS, you feel like you play a
physical game in the world.
The game has been creating a huge buzz since its release as it
is not a regular play-on-the-phone -only type. You have to out yourself out of
the four walls to get it going.
As the game is not available in Asia and Europe right now, I am
sticking to the usage statistics of America only.
Pokemon
Beat Tinder in Total Downloads
It’s true that the game was released a few days ago. But guess
what?
The total download count made the dating app Tinder feel ashamed
of its own. So what does it say? People love gameplay more than foreplay? ;)
Only
after 2 days of the release, Pokemon go has been download on about 5.16% of all
the Android devices in the US.
Twitter is Going to be Beaten in Number of Daily Active Users
Now that Tinder is not a challenge, Pokemon Go is all set to
beat the well-established social networking site Twitter regarding daily active
users.
More than 60% of the people who downloaded the game is using is
daily. That means, about 3% of the total Android users in America plays Pokemon
Go daily.
WhatsApp,
Snapchat, Instagram, and Messenger are Already Behind
Now, let’s analyze the average amount of time each user put into
playing the game. Pokemon Go is an entertaining game given that an average user
spends about 43 minutes and 23 seconds playing the game.
If you compare the
usage time of WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram and Messenger, you will find out
the difference is considerable and the new mobile game kid in the market is
knocking the socks off the competition.
Someone
Took Advantage of the Game; Good for Them
You know the game isn’t available all over the world. That made
apkmirror.com quite popular.
People searched (still does) for the apk file of the game to
surpass the official app store. As a result, the daily traffic to apkmirror.com
has been increased to over 6 million a day on July 6th. Two days ago (on July
4th), it was only 600,000 only.
Considering
the total organic traffic in the last 28 days, they received the most (19.6%)
from the term ‘pokemon go apk.’
You can still see them in SERPs right after Wikipedia for the
term ‘pokemon go.’
N.B.- Image credits- SimilarWeb
Wrapping Up
That’s all. Everyone is talking about the game right now. So, I
thought it would be great if I present a few usage statistics before you.
This one is the greatest example of how a simple app can take
internet by storm. Unique ideas are alwarys well received. Moreover, this game
connects with the external world.
Don’t forget to share the article.
Pokemon Go Becomes an Instant Rage; Coming to India Soon
What was initially outed as an April Fool’s joke, has turned out
to be one of the largest success in the gaming industry.Nintendo’s
augmented reality game, Pokemon Go, based on the anime series from Japan, has
become a rage amongst the people in the US.
According
to recent reports, the
Android and iOS game has already exceeded the Twitter daily active count and
has been installed on nearly 6% of all Android users in the US. As of now the game is available in the
US, Australia and New Zealand only, however the game developers are planning to
launch it in Europe, South America and a few Asian countries, hopefully India
as well.
What’s all the noise about?
If
you watch Pokemon or have watched it earlier, you would know what it feels like
to enact the same in real life. As kids, it would be fun to watch the trainers
catch Pokemon and battle them for awards and ultimate championships. If I were
to tell you that you can do the same now, except through augmented reality,
wouldn’t you get excited about it?
This is exactly what has taken the US by storm and made people
go out of their houses into the wild. There have been reports of accidents,
fatigue, robberies and museums putting up signs to discourage users from
playing Pokemon Go on the streets.
However,
there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop a bunch of people from catching a
Pokemon at 3AM in the night. Exactly like in the anime series, users can throw
(virtually) Poke balls to catch Pokemon, train them and fight them in
championships.
The
game developers have very smartly placed exclusive Pokémon’s in unknown
locations, making people explore locations they have never been to before.
Mind-blowing Pokemon Go Stats
Within
2 days of launch, the app was already installed on 5.2% of all Android devices
in the US. Within a day of launch itself, it had surpassed the number of Tinder
installs on all Android devices in the US.
Over
60% of the users who have the app installed on their phones, are using it
daily, which is already higher than Twitter in
terms of daily active user count. Considering it is a game, and
a very famous one at that, the average usage time is at around 45 mins, while the
closest one, WhatsApp, only garners 30 mins.
This
sudden rage also ended
up increasing Nintendo’s stock price by 20%, never seen before in the last 30
years. The retention time of the app is also said to be extremely high when
compared to other games. However, let’s wait for a few months once the rage
dies down.
Can
this fame sustain?
Do
you remember flappy bird?
It was a very simple game that rose to fame for its interesting gameplay, but
failed to sustain as similar games launched on Android and iOS. Pokemon Go
however has a lot going for it to become dormant in the coming months.
Firstly, there isn’t a game similar to this one out there, and cannot be, since Pokemon is Nintendo’s property. Secondly, flappy bird did not have much variation in it, whereas Pokemon Go is augmented reality, which has so many permutations and combinations that you can literally never run out of challenges.
Thirdly, the game has an emotional connect with the users, as the developers have brought to life what we wanted to do as kids. A combination of these make it a sure shot success and can propel it to higher levels.

While
the game is unofficially available everywhere else, we strongly recommend not to download the
.apk file available on the internet because of some security and privacy
concerns.
Do watch out for more updates as Nintendo reveals its plans to launch the game outside of the US. We will be first one to let you know when the game launches officially in India.

BlackBerry Bringing 3 Android Phones Neon, Argon & Mercury This Season
We do not remember the last time BlackBerry launched a phone
that killed the competition. The company kept repeating the same mistakes every
year, which led to a huge decline post-BBM era.
BlackBerry
launched its first Android device, after almost being forced to so as to stay
in the competition, called the Priv which
failed to make any impact in the smartphone industry. It was known for being
overpriced for the features it offered, even though the design was quite unique
and reminiscent of the older BlackBerrys.
The
Canadian manufacturer was now resorted to launching three Android-based
smartphones, hopefully by July itself. According to reports, the three
smartphones are set to be placed in the three key segments in the market right
now, to take on Samsung, LG and the major Chinese manufacturers.
The smartphones will be announced at the MobileBeat
2016 Conference to be held at San Francisco from 12th-13th July. It is one of the
conferences where there are talks by leaders and influential people, technology
keynotes, case studies and announcements.
Expected
features of the smartphones
BlackBerry
will be launching the three smartphones in the US and we hope they will be
subsequently available in India. The phones have been codenamed very uniquely –
Neon, Argon, and Mercury. The phones are expected to be made available to the
users in subsequent quarters.
Neon
It
is expected to be the first out of the three to be available to the users. The
phone will sport a 5.2-inch full-HD display, powered by a Snapdragon 617 chipset,
housing 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. A decently sized 2610 mAh
battery will be present in the phone.
The phone will not come with a physical keyboard, will support
QuickCharge 2.0 and sport 13MP camera with flash at the back and an 8MP camera
at the front. The smartphone will most probably be available on sale in a week
or two from official unveiling.
16GB
of internal storage should be now done away with, so if BlackBerry is offering
such low storage for its base model, it better be cheap.
Argon
The
larger of the two keyboard-less smartphones, Argon will come with a 5.5-inch
QHD touchscreen powered by Qualcomm 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of
internal memory. The phone will house a larger 3,000 mAh battery with
QuickCharge 3.0 for quick charging.
Argon
also has a 21MP shooter at the back along with an 8MP shooter on the front. The
phone reminds us of the Priv and it is also more like an upgrade to the Priv,
sans the physical keyboard. It will be available in the last quarter of 2016.
Mercury
This
phone will be the last installment from BlackBerry for the time being. The form
factor is expected to be different, with a large touch screen and a physical
keyboard below it. However, unlike Priv, the phone will not have a slider and
instead have a bar form factor, like the Passport.
Mercury
sports a 4.5-inch full HD display in a square-ish design like the Passport, and
houses a Snapdragon 625 chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal
storage. The plus point of the smartphone is the large battery at 3400 mAh
supporting QuickCharge.
The
phone also has an 18MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies. Mercury
seems to be a revival of its flagship Passport phone, with a new operating
system. The phone will be available to consumers from Q1 2017.
Can
these three phones turn-around BlackBerry’s fate?
BlackBerry
recently reported a $670 million net loss, and while the company isn’t doing as
bad as it did in 2014, it still isn’t in a good shape.
Lenovo Vibe C2 Announced in Russia, Features 5-inch HD Display and 4G LTE
Lenovo has introduced yet another budget 4G smartphone for the Russian market. The Vibe C2 comes months after Lenovo introduced the Vibe C. The Lenovo Vibe C2 comes with a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P SoC coupled with a 1GB of RAM. At 8.5mm thickness the phone is definitely on the chunkier side.
On the storage front, the
device offers 8GB/16GB of internal memory which is further expandable up to
32GB. The camera setup consists of an 8-Megapixel primary Sony 219 sensor and a
secondary camera is a 5-Megapixel unit. Lenovo Vibe C2 is backed up by a
2,750mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The
Lenovo Vibe C2 comes with the usual host of connectivity features including 4G
LTE, WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0LE, and GPS. Furthermore, the Vibe C2 would be
offered in Black and White colour while the pricing details are yet to be
revealed. If rumours are to be believed, then the Moto E3 might come with a
similar set of specifications.
The Russian market is currently being dominated
by the Chinese brands and in fact, Lenovo is one of the most
popular Chinese smartphone brands and commands a market share of 10%. Lenovo is
